gf=m/2,  gu=gf+6, so gu=m/2+6 gf+gu+m=22, using gf and gu from above we have: m/2+m/2+6+m=22  combine like terms on the left side 2m+6=22  subtract 6 from both sides 2m=16  divide both sides by 2 m=8 So there are 8 mollies in the tank.

m=molliesg=goldfish = 0.5mp=guppies = g+6 = 0.5m +622=m+0.5m+0.5m +622=2m+616 =2mm = 8 molliescheck1/2 *8 = 4 goldfish4+6 =10 guppies8 mollies10 + 8 + 4= 22  so there were 8 mollies
